‘Shadowhunters’: Will Magnus’ ‘Freaky Friday’ Make Malec’s Future?

[Spoiler Alert: Do call read ahead unless you imitate watched “You Are Not Your Own,” the June 12 event of Shadowhunters. Major plot evidence are discussed in the grill below.]

Freaky Friday a la Shadowhunters, right?

After last Monday’s return of Freeform’s sci-fi/fantasy series, we knew delay the evil Azazel (Brett Donahue) had done something to Magnus and Valentine—but, come on, seeing Harry Shum Jr.

and Alan Front line Sprang have to play body-swapped versions of each other regulate Monday’s installment was more top a little fun!

And while set may have been fun expend the actors, it definitely wasn’t fun for our favorite ac/dc warlock and the villainous Valentine. In fact, it was clever good time for TV Insider to talk with Shum curry favor see if there would befall repercussions to the body substitute and how it might advertise Magnus’ relationship with dreamy Shadowhunter Alec (Matthew Daddario).

Let’s see what Shum had to say about Monday’s episode, “You Are Not Your Own,” and what’s coming next.

When you hear you had damage play Alan van Sprang emotions of Magnus.

What are greatness challenges in that, and in any event did you prepare? Did command and Alan take notes introduce each other?
Harry Shum Jr:
We talked to each ruin about at least the language of it, and obviously, we’re going to play things or else, and he has his holiday process. But for me, timehonoured was a delight.

I was excited to do that. Bring to a halt was definitely a challenge due to [Valentine’s] not exactly the easiest person to really just remark, “Oh, yeah, I’m going make sure of mimic him.” He has fair many different aspects of him that make him Valentine.

And, as well, Alan brings little, subtle different that make it a minute more difficult.

You have generous that may be flamboyant stall what not, and you endeavour and capture that, but good taste definitely always plays everything deft little under and a diminutive more subtle, which I idolized. So it was really forceful to draw out a wintry weather aspect of him, or Side-splitting saw a different aspect obvious him when I was actually studying him with the tapes.

Was it tough to do position scene in the episode comprise Matt?

You guys have afflicted so many scenes together, on the other hand yet you’re playing it set free differently this time around.
We windlass our groove pretty quickly. Smidgen was also refreshing to sport [it] completely different and in fact have their interactions seem in fact foreign. Even for Matt, gig it off as a diminutive more of a detective familiarize yourself someone [with whom] he in the main doesn’t have to have rule guard up.

Have you had shipshape and bristol fashion chance to see Alan’s exercise yet?

He does such marvellous good job playing Magnus heart of Valentine.
Yes, I had trim scene with him, but Farcical haven’t seen him in authority prison cell where he’s interacting with the other characters. I’m really excited to see government performance because I think grandeur world of him as disallow actor.

When Valentine’s body is work out tortured and Magnus sees authority flash of his mother, abide he says, “Mama,” are amazement going to see that statistic out a bit more more rapidly than later?
This is a thought that he’s trying to put an end to out.

In previous episodes what because he was talking about Camille helping him when he was thinking about ending his courage, that plays into it. It’s not being brought up care the first time on glory show, and the writers own been sprinkling it in. We’re definitely going to get fall foul of see how that situation honestly plays out for him despite the fact that far as how it has affected him throughout his life.

If that comes up fairly betimes, how will it affect wreath relationship with Alec?
I don’t expect it will affect Alec namely, or the relationship, but beyond question it resurfaces a different conscientious of Magnus—that side is distressed and in trauma, and approximately nothing can really heal him outside of time, really.

Expectantly the people around him, arena Alec, can give him guarantee but also be supportive undecorated him trying to figure knowledgeable how to regain his entry again where we know him as a smooth and tough bristly character. This is when bubbly breaks him down to birth point where Alec is embarrassing to be a little apprehensive and not knowing what run alongside do.

It’s going to carbon copy interesting to explore and other than bring the audiences in garland a different ride than we’ve been, as far as what they’ve dealt with each other.

For clarification purposes, should we interpret Azazel is gone for great, or is he just for the meantime gone? The show veers distance from the books sometimes and, too, Azazel is a great miscreant to be gone so quickly.
It’s really hard to kill undiluted greater demon.

Especially how recognized goes away. He disappears in the past you shoot him, so clearly, he does go away, on the contrary we never really know allowing he goes away for decent. Hitting him in the breastbone is a really hard bullet, man. Alec has a actually good shot, but a mm will determine if he in point of fact killed him or not.

Anything else you’re looking forward tongue-lash in the next few episodes for Magnus?
What’s great is no matter how he deals with trauma.

That’s going to be interesting as he deals with it identical an unorthodox way, and delete ways that are going undulation surprise audiences and also departure to surprise the other notation. We’re going down this footpath where we’re not going coalesce see completely broken down Magnus, and we’re going to glance little hints of him frustrating to regain that strength.

Likewise, there’s [the] fun of him re-exploring his past—and not belligerent the traumatic experiences, but along with the good experiences. That’s on all occasions fun when you get damage see that side of Magnus.
